Fellowship | Advanced Practice Provider Critical Care Medicine

Post Acute Care

The University of Kentucky is a Level 1 Trauma Center that provides care for some of the highest acuity patients in the nation.  As an Advanced Practice Provider Fellow in the Department of Anesthesiology’s Critical Care Medicine Division, the learner will have exposure to numerous health conditions and surgical patients.
The fellow will gain exposure to neurocritical care, involving conditions such as traumatic brain injury, subarachnoid hemorrhage, and acute ischemic stroke. Additionally, the fellow, as part of a multidisciplinary team, will care for cardiothoracic and surgical populations, including ECMO, liver transplant, and thoracic surgery.   The APP Fellowship is a one-year certificate program that allows for diverse and intensive patient exposure while maintaining a structured learning environment.

The goal of the fellowship is to expand upon existing education to ensure competent and safe care in a critical care environment.

Rotations are concurrent with an intense didactic portion that accompanies each clinical segment.  Following each rotation, a written exam will be administered as well as an oral review to ensure gained knowledge and competency.
